I painted this when I was out of work during the Covid 19 pandemic. I wanted to leave something beautiful behind in case I caught the virus. It's composition derives from E.L. Kirchner, whose show I saw recently at the Neue Gallerie in Manhattan. Death’s costume is from Otto Dix and Stefano Della Bella, the pigeons and syringe are courtesy of NYC.
