Another of my McColl Center series of Medieval signs of the end of the world. When I showed this painting some people were disturbed by it because of its dying horses. I had to remind them that 'no animals were injured in the making of this painting'. Horses have often been used in this expressive way (Picasso's 'Guernica' for example) because of their long supportive and empathetic relationship with us.
