Work History
I've done about ten Punchinello paintings, most of which are sold. I've always loved Domenico Tiepolo's drawings and print series of the life of Punchinello, the Italian clown and his family. I realized I could take that character and insert him into contemporary subjects. This one, which is a quasi-self-portrait, shows Punchinello in my old studio on Club Rd. in Charlotte, N.C. That's my painting table and easel, my skeleton (Mr. Thrifty), the studio interior and the view outside my window. It also displays the grid that lies beneath all my paintings.
