Sugar Creek runs right into the heart of downtown Charlotte. A large spill happened a few years ago- thousands of gallons of motor oil stored by the Nascar Museum. There was almost no media coverage of the event. The news photo that I used for this painting was put up by a wildlife rescue group that was busily cleaning oil-soaked ducks. It was the only photo I ever found dating from the event.
