Death Hears Confession
Death Hears Confession
Acrylic on Board
12" X 15"

A woman has realized who her confessor is, and runs from the booth. She has narrowly escaped, but Death will return to the stage again soon. A tragic performance influenced by the prints of Hans Holbein, in which Death comes for all manner of humanity. I inherited a nice copy of the Holbein Dance of Death from my father. For some time the Gothic Early Renaissance was a strong influence, as I searched for a means toward greater expression in my work.
