The Cretan Labyrinth
The Cretan Labyrinth
Acrylic on Canvas
18" X 18"

The Cretan Labyrinth was inspired by a story by Borges. Originally a Greek myth, the maze of the Labyrinth trapped many travelers who were quickly dispatched by its resident monster, the Minotaur, 1/2 bull and 1/2 man. It was fun to imagine the spooky confusing architecture through which our hero Theseus, founder of Athens, carefully tiptoes. Ultimately Theseus overpowers the Minotaur with his Herculean strength, and stabs the horrible beast in the throat.
