The Tournament
Acrylic on Panel
6' 7" X 2' 8"

I did this tournament scene for my brother Julian. It's the largest painting I've ever done (excepting a couple of public art pieces). I did it thinking especially of Pisanello's wonderful courtly Medieval frescoes, paintings, and drawings; and N.C. Wyeth and Howard Pyle illustrations, which I grew up with and loved as a child, and still admire greatly. This was painted on a hollow wooden door I purchased for this purpose.
