In Canto XVIII of Dante’s Paradiso, angels use their bodies to spell out the words depicted here. The eagle of Divine Justice is in the middle, and Dante’s crush and guide Beatrice is at left. Canto XVIII assails 'many Christian princes, whose conduct rouses hate in peoples and ruins states'. Although this looks like an abstract image, it's actually a true representation of Dante's heavenly vision.
