‘Big Time Brad’ Downey is a great conceptual artist, and my friend. There is a wonderful book of his work called ‘Slapstick Formalism’. He’s responsible for a notorious wooden sculpture of Melania Trump, which he commissioned from a local wood carver, and erected in her home town. It was famously burnt, but is now resurrected in bronze. I told him it’s my favorite sculpture of the 21st century, but I admit to ignorance of what it’s competition might be. He also solicits portraits of himself from artist friends- this is mine in the style of his ‘Melania’.
