A view of the oldest of the Storyville neighborhood buildings still standing. Originally a bar, more recently a grocery. It looks rough today, as it moves toward a city renovation project. Historically, it was a legally regulated red-light district in New Orleans, that operated from 1897 to 1917. It played a major role in the early development of jazz. It was closed down by the federal government in 1917, and razed in the late 1930’s
