The Dam is the Mountain Island Lake Dam that supplies drinking water to the city of Charlotte, NC. Duke Power dumped coal ash into the lake during their spill cleanup, funded by tax payers and customers, and approved by Gov. Pat McCrory, a former Duke Power executive. This painting is influenced by early Chinese landscapes, which emphasized the full and empty aspects of life, the yin and the yang.
