St. Luke's Classroom
St. Luke's Classroom
Acrylic on Canvas
11" X 11"

This is St. Luke's Classroom. I attended St. Luke's Elementary School in Manhattan, New York City. St. Luke is the patron saint of artists, because he reportedly drew a portrait of the Virgin Mary. His attribute and companion was a bull. At St. Luke's we were occasionally visited by nuns who would present a lesson. There was a small chapel on site where the Latin Mass was performed, and I vividly remember the Medieval atmosphere and the pungent smell of incense.
