Death at the Bay of Naples was inspired by an ancient Roman mosaic image, and fresco subject. I loved the skeleton going down to the Bay to fill water jugs. It's a larger painting, and I enjoy its classical simplicity and abstract qualities. It also reminds me of a favorite joke: 'A skeleton walks into a bar, and shouts to the bartender- Give me a beer... and a mop!'
