In 2015 Donald Trump glided down a Trump Tower escalator before a paid crowd of gawkers, to declare his presidential candidacy. The ensuing 4 years of his presidency were nothing but destructive to democratic American values and public safety, domestic and foreign. The Descent depicts Trump riding back up into historical infamy and disgrace. The words around the frame are from Shakespeare, who described many such tragic and well-deserved descents.
