Work History
Over the years I've enjoyed recreating a lost painting. This is a painting known only from a print version by Marcantonio Raimondi. Raimondi is best known for prints of Raphael compositions, but this one is associated with the great Venetian Giorgione. Giorgione is a favorite of mine because of the improvisational nature of his paintings. I love the poetry and mystery inherent in many of his works. This illustrates a great fire that happened during his short lifetime. Two nude courtesans recline on bedding watching the inferno.
