A medieval idea, Abominable Fancy was a term used to describe how people were often excited to view hangings, floggings, and crucifictions, which drew crowds of spectators. IEven today, murders, tragic accidents, horrible floods or fires, public humiliations, and brutal sports events attract crowds of excited viewers. At one time in America, even lynchings turned out crowds of gawkers!
