When I was a boy, after the Cuban missile crisis, we were 5-10 minutes from nuclear midnight. We used to march from our junior high school down into the nearest subway station, in preparation for nuclear war. It feels like we’re closer than that now. It begins to feel imminent and inevitable.I’m hoping that intelligence, empathy, and cooler heads will prevail.
